SeaTac, WA - “The Hospitality City”
The City of SeaTac is approximately 10.5 square miles surrounding the main airport in Washington State, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. It is located midway between the cities of Seattle and Tacoma, hints the name.
However, SeaTac has a long and vibrant history not only in the aviation world, but also as a long time settlement for the local Duwamish and Muckleshoot tribes. Local Northwest Native American tribes valued the area for its abundant natural resources, rich farming lands and generous hunting grounds. The local rivers and lakes provided for excellent fishing and the native flora attracted animals from all around.
Officially, the City of SeaTac wasn’t incorporated into King County until February of 1990, however the area’s productivity and fame as an international hub stems from around the World War II era when the Seattle Tacoma International Airport was first developed. Today’s SeaTac is a very important part of the Pacific Northwest and plays a significant role in the Puget Sound Region’s economy.
