Kent, WA - “Bringing the World Home”
Kent, Washington was originally known as Titusville by the westerners who settled there. The City of Kent was renamed after the County of Kent, a major hops producing region of England, because of its settler’s own discovery of hops production as a major source of income. On May 28th, 1890 the largely agricultural, hops growing town of Kent was the second city to be incorporated into King County just after Seattle. The turn of the century marked a long tradition of dairy farming in the region. After World War II Kent’s centrally located real estate was discovered anew and the population began to grow rapidly. Kent’s diverse landscape, natural resources and proximity to major port areas has always played an important role in its success as a highly productive area.
